91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur and 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championships Get Underway

JASPER, AL (July 12, 2023) – Match Play results of the 91st Alabama Women’s State 
 
Amateur Championship and 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.  
 
The 91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship advanced to match play format as the top 16 players battled this morning in the Championship Division. Eight players remained in the afternoon Quarterfinals.

The No. 16 seed, Julie Waldo of Prattville, defeated the No. 1 seed, Hannah Dees of Fairhope, 3 & 2 .     
  
No. 8 seed Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham defeated No. 9 seed Laura Burch of Mobile 5 & 4 .   
 
Tori Waters (No. 13 seed) of Mobile defeated No. 4 seed Jinger Heath of Decatur 1 up .   
 
Yvette Gorden (No. 5 seed) of Pike Road defeated No. 12 seed Lauren Gilchrist of Spanish Fort 3 & 2 .

Within the Tournament Division, Emily Johnson (No. 1 seed) of Vestavia defeated Kyung-Hwa Theodoss (No. 4 seed) of Hampton Cove 6 & 5.    
  
No. 2 seed Nancy Gavin of Jacksons Gap defeated No. 3 seed Candy Mitchell of Springville 1 up .   
  
Afternoon Women’s State Amateur Results

Taylor Trible of Birmingham defeated Chloe Ruble of Athens 3 & 1.   
  
Tomorrow’s semifinals will see Schremmer play Waters and Jamison play Trible .

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association .
