156 players competed at Goose Pond Colony Resort (Lake Course) for Round One of the 78th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship. Morning tee times began at 7:00 a.m., and the afternoon wave began at 11:50 a.m.
Michael Crocker of Mobile sits atop of the leaderboard after shooting six-under 66, with seven birdies in his round today.
“I kind of got off to a slow start but picked up some birdies,” Crocker said. “Got an early morning tomorrow, so going to go home, get some rest, and come back at it tomorrow to try to do the same thing.”
Jack Lowery sits just one stroke behind with a score of five-under 67. He made six birdies and just one bogey today.
Powell Zundel made a hole-in-one on #8.
Five players stand T3, each carding a three-under 69 for the day:

Round Two of the 78th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship will begin at 7:00 a.m. off holes #1 and #10 on Wednesday, July 25, 2023.
This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
