Round One Results of the 16th Alabama Women’s State Four Ball and 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championships

Ashlynd Madden tees off Hole No. 1 on the Dogwood Course at Lakewood Golf Club

POINT CLEAR, AL (July 26, 2023) – Round One results from the Alabama Golf Association’s 16th Alabama Women’s State Four Ball Championship and the 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championship.

Addison Spears of Fairhope and Ashlynd Madden of Spanish Fort have taken an early lead in the 16th Alabama Women’s State Four Ball, finishing the day eight-under par, 64. The duo sits four strokes ahead of the competition.
 
“We were able to just kind of play off each other’s strengths. I attacked par fives and she was super consistent and got us on a lot of greens so we had chances to make birdie putts,” said Madden.
 
The following four groups stand T2, four-under par, 68:
●      Molly Brown Davidson of Springville and Saxon Skinner of Tuscaloosa​
●      Adalyn Pike of Athens and Chloe Ruble of Athens
●      Jinger Heath of Decatur and Laura Burch of Mobile
●      Hannah Dees of Fairhope and Tori Roush of Fairhope

 
The 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball championship leaders at the end of Round One are Lea Green of McCalla and Linda Jeffery of Prattville. The team shot a combined six-under par, 66.
 
Leah Head and Theresa Stratton sit one stroke behind finishing the day five-under par, 67. In third place, Ann Lanier of Fairhope and Chris Spivey of Pell City finished the day four-under par, 68.
 
The second and final round will begin tomorrow morning, Thursday July 26th at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
 
This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
