Michael Crocker Crowned Champion of the 78th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship

SCOTTSBORO, AL (July 27, 2023) – Final Round results of the 78th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Goose Pond Colony Resort (Lake Course), Scottsboro, Alabama, on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Seventy players competed in the Final Round today for the 78th Alabama Boys State Junior Champion title.
 
Michael Crocker of Mobile began the day tied for the lead with Andrew Hinson of Huntsville. Crocker finished with two-under 70 for the day with five birdies, securing his wire-to-wire victory with an overall score of 12-under 204.
 
“I’m just happy I got the job done and played well all this week,” Crocker said.

Hinson and Crocker remained tied for the majority of the Final Round, but Crocker gained momentum on the back nine, carding a total of three birdies to lead Hinson by one stroke after the eighteenth hole. 
 
Andrew Hinson of Huntsville claimed silver with an 11-under 205 after posting one-under 71 today with four birdies during his round.
 
Trip Duke of Fairhope finished third with a nine-under 207 overall after carding three-under 69 today.
 
The 78th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association. 
 
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
