Round One Results of the 5th Southeast Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship

ALEXANDER CITY, AL (Aug. 25, 2023) – Round One results of the 5th Southeast Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship hosted by Willow Point Golf & Country Club in Alexander City, Alabama on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 (Mid-Amateur Division: 7199 yards; Senior Division: 6697 yards; Par 36-36—72).

Steven Groover of Atlanta, Georgia and M Tyler McKeever of Birmingham, Ala., stand atop the leaderboard of the Mid-Amateur Division with a nine-under 63 in the opening round of the 5th Southeastern Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
 
Groover eagled holes #10 and #12; the duo also made three gross total birdies to electrify the field. They hold a one-stroke lead.
 
The following teams stand T2, posting an eight-under 64:
●      Josh Fickes of Buford, S.C. and Brandon Grzywacz of Pinebluff, N.C.
●      Chris Devlin and Payton Osborn of Birmingham, Ala.
●      Will McCurdy and Wil Clowdus of Auburn, Ala.
 
Three groups stand tied within the Senior Division, carding a six-under 66 for Round One:
●      Shaw Pritchett and Jeff Taylor of Montgomery, Ala.
●      Chris Lemley of Decatur, Ala. and Tony Olive of Florence, Ala.
●      Joey Fortner and Chris Jones of Birmingham, Ala.
The team of Mat Mize and Carter MIze of Columbus, Ga. stands fourth on the leaderboard with a five-under 67 for the day.
 
Round Two begins Saturday, Aug. 26th, 2023, at 7:20 a.m. off #1 and #10.
