Semifinals Set at the 43rd Alabama State Four-Ball Championship

GREENVILLE, AL – (April 29, 2025) –  Round of 16 and Quarterfinal results of the 43rd Alabama State Four-Ball Championship held at RTJ Cambrian Ridge (Sherling/Canyon) in Greenville, AL on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Eighth-seeded Alan Waggoner of Owens Cross Roads + Justin Bowie of Toney won two matches today. In the Round of 16 they defeated nine-seeded Seth Dodd of Fort Payne + Tyler Coley of Fort Payne. The duo defeated the number 16 seeded Eric Shugart of Huntsville + Patrick Butler of Huntsville in 22 holes in the Quarterfinals. 

The team of Heath West of Dothan + Matt Johnson of Dothan collected two victories today with a 2&1 win over Andy McRae of Hoover + Victor Kyatt of Bessemer in the Round of 16. They defeated the number four seed, Brent Cooper of Spanish Fort + Logan Rawson of Elberta in 21 holes in the quarterfinals. 

The team of Blair Hamm of Helena + Ethan Hagood of Vestavia Hills claimed a 1 up victory over the number five seeded Matt Gourgeot of Dothan + Stewart Whitt of Dothan in the Round of 16. They went on to defeat Jace Duckworth of Tuscaloosa + Trace Bracknell Tuscaloosa 4 & 2 during the Quarterfinals. 

During the Round of 16, Bailey Sutter + Rawlin Sutter of Vinemont defeated Braxton Gillespie of Grand Bay + Eric Howle of Chelsea 4 & 3. The duo went on to defeat Garrison Guthrie of Auburn + Tanner Guthrie 0f Auburn 3 & 2 in the Quarterfinals. 

The following matches are set for Semifinals:
●  Waggoner + Bowie vs. West + Johnson
●  Hamm + Hagood vs. Sutter + Sutter
 
Semifinal matches begin tomorrow, May 3, 2925  at 7:30 a.m. at RTJ Cambrian Ridge with the Championship match slated for approximately 12:30 p.m.

This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.

In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
