Round Two Results of the 62nd Alabama Girls State Junior and 2nd Alabama Women’s State Mid-Amateur Championships

HUNTSVILLE, AL (June 3, 2025) – Round two results of the 62nd Alabama Girls State Junior and 2nd Alabama Women’s State Mid-Amateur Championships held at Valley Hill Country Club (Hill/Valley) in Huntsville, AL on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Merritt Daniel of Trussville posted a Second Round score of even-par 72 to climb to the top of the 62nd Alabama Girls State Junior leaderboard. Overall, she is two-over par 146 for the tournament and holds a two-shot lead heading into round three tomorrow. 

First round leader Beka Yang of Pike Road and Courtney Grace of Birmingham each finished Round Two at four-over 148 overall to sit tied for second. Yang and Grace sit one-shot ahead of 

Kamdyn Kelley of Dothan (T4), and Morgan Maddox of Homewood (T4).

At the Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, Ashley-Sinclair Curtis of Enterprise fired a Second Round score of three-under 69 to widen her overall lead by six-shots. She is currently four-under 140 after rounds one and two.

Jesse Lawley of Hoover and Lauren Martin of Alabaster remain tied for second, each posting overall scores of two-over 146 for the tournament.

The Final Round of the 62nd Alabama Girls State Junior and 2nd Alabama Women’s State Mid-Amateur will begin tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. with a double tee start going off of holes #1 and #10.

In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
