Round One Results of the 109th Alabama State Amateur Championship

PRATTVILLE, AL (June 4, 2025) – Round One results of the 109th Alabama State Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by the RTJ Capitol Hill (Senator) in Prattville, AL on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

156 players competed at the RTJ Capitol Hill (Senator) to begin the First Round of the 109th Alabama State Amateur Championship. 

2024 Alabama Boys State Junior Champion, Bailey Sutter of Vinemont and 2025 Alabama State Senior Champion, Chris Devlin of Hoover each fired opening rounds of seven-under 65 to co-lead Round One of the 109th Alabama State Amateur Championship. 

After eight birdies today for Sutter and seven birdies and a hole-in-one for Devlin, the co-leaders hold a two-shot lead going into Round Two, tomorrow. 

Will McCurdy of Auburn sits in solo third, finishing the day at five-under 67. 

Four players sit T4, each posting 68 (-4) for Round One:
  • Tobin Ayers of Auburn
  • Luke Davis of Athens
  • Cole Imig of Birmingham
  • Jon Ed Steed of Enterprise 
Players will fight to make the cut beginning tomorrow, June 5, 2025 at 7:30 a.m. for Round Two of the 109th Alabama State Amateur Championship.

The 109th Alabama State Amateur Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.  

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 30,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
