The Southern Junior Cup is an invitation only championship that welcomes the top co-ed junior talent from across the South including teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Teams featuring the top six female and top six male junior players selected by each state golf association will face off in a high level match play competition.
Alabama is the defending champion, claiming last year’s title in Muscle Shoals at RTJ The Shoals (Fighting Joe) with a final score of 16.5 points, and has won all 8 appearances (Cup was not played in 2020).
Format
The Southern Junior Cup is an invite-only, Ryder Cup format co-ed team competition with four states competing this year: Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The format consists of 18 holes of match play with Four-Ball, Foursomes, and Singles Match Play sessions. The result of any match tied after 18 holes is final. Each match is worth 1 point. Half point to each side for a tie. Each state competes against the other three states in an equal number of matches. Four-Ball and Foursomes sides consist of one male and one female, while Singles Matches are male vs. male and female vs. female.
Event History
Past Winners: Oklahoma (2012, 2013, 2014 , 2015), Alabama (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). Alabama replaced Oklahoma in 2016. Oklahoma replaced Mississippi in 2024.
