Team Alabama Captures Ninth Consecutive Southern Junior Cup Victory

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS (July 31, 2025) –  Final results of the 13th Southern Junior Cup Sponsored by Edwin Watts and hosted by Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

The 2025 Southern Junior Cup team, representing Alabama, won eight of the 24 points available in yesterday’s singles matches to claim their ninth consecutive Southern Junior Cup title at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas after three rounds consisting of Four-Ball, Foursomes, and Singles matches. 
 
Coming down to the final hole and the final match, Team Alabama successfully held onto their title after Courtney Grace of Alabama defeated Susanna Manns of Arkansas on the 18th hole to put Team Alabama a point and a half in front of Team Arkansas. 
 
Team Alabama finished the two-day, three match event with 16.5 points to defend the Cup and claim victory for the ninth year in a row.

Format
The Southern Junior Cup is an invite-only, Ryder Cup format co-ed team competition with four states competing this year: Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The format consists of 18 holes of match play with Four-Ball, Foursomes, and Singles  Match Play sessions. The result of any match tied after 18 holes is final. Each match is worth 1 point. Half point to each side for a tie. Each state competes against the other three states in an equal number of matches. Four-Ball and Foursomes sides consist of one male and one female, while Singles Matches are male vs. male and female vs. female.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 30,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
