AUBURN, AL – (Aug. 14, 2025) Final results of the 2025 U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted at Saugahatchee Country Club in Auburn, Alabama, August 14, 2025.

U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying: 6943 yards, par 72, Course/Slope Rating: 73.2/136
 
Three qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying site.
 
Joel Alexander of Florence, Alabama posted a score of three-under 69 to secure medalist honors and claim the first qualifying position.
 
Pablo Mena Medrano of Spain, Tobin Ayers of Auburn, Alabama, and Will McCurdy of Auburn, Alabama each posted two-under 70 to force a playoff for the final two qualifying spots.
 
After the three-for-two playoff, Medrano and Ayers claimed the final two qualifying positions.
 
McCurdy was named First Alternate and Dalton Melnyk of Atlanta, Georgia was named Second Alternate.
 
Three Players advanced to the 44th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Troon Country Club, Scottsdale, Arizona, Troon North Golf Club, Scottsdale, Arizona, September 13-18, 2025.

U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Qualifying: 5975 yards, par 72, Course/Slope Rating: 74.1/133
 
Two qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Qualifying site.
 
Kit Hampel of Buffalo, New York posted three-over 75 to earn medalist honors and claim the first qualifying position. 
 
Erin Packer of Peachtree City, Georgia, Ket Preamchuen Vanderpool of Thailand, and Sophie Membrino of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida each carded a score of five-over 77 to force a playoff for the final qualifying spot.
 
After a three for one playoff, Erin Packer claimed the second qualifying position. 
 
Vanderpool and Membrino took the First and Second Alternate positions, respectively. 
 
Two players advanced to the 28th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Monterey Peninsula C.C. (Dunes Course), Pebble Beach, California, October 4-9, 2025.

The 2025 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship Qualifiers are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
 
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 30,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
