Limestone Springs Golf Club: Host of the 37th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship
ONEONTA, AL (September 25, 2025) – The Alabama Golf Association’s 37th State Mid-Amateur Championship will take place at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, AL, September 26-28, 2025. 129 golfers will compete for the 2025 Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship title.

This year marks the 37th playing of the Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship and the first time Limestone Springs has hosted the State Mid-Amateur Championship. Ben Reeves of Birmingham won the 2024 Mid-Amateur Championship at Indian Hills Country Club. The championship was first played in 1989, with Emile Vaughn winning the inaugural event. Mike Greer and Scott Weaver each have 3 victories, with Weaver winning his consecutively (2001-2003).

Eligibility
Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 6.9 and is 25 years of age as of September 26, 2025.

Championship Format
  • Championship field size is 129 players
  • Exempt players are accepted at time of registration. Non-exempt players will be accepted after close of entries to fill the championship field. If the championship field is oversubscribed, field will be determined by player ranking, past performance and Handicap Index as of September 11, 2025. Players not gaining entry will be placed on the alternate wait list. Waitlist alternates are ranked in the same way as the field. The AGA reserves the right to conduct a sectional qualifying round to determine the final field and alternate order.
  • This Championship is conducted at 54 holes of gross individual stroke play. 
  • The field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. 
  • The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play. The play-off holes and their order of play will be determined by the Committee. 
  • Initial groupings will be for two days; the field will be cut and re-paired by score after the second round.
Championship Schedule  
Thursday, September 25 
All Day: Tee times available for practice. 
8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Player registration in the Clubhouse Foyer adjacent to the golf shop.

Friday, September 26 
Round 1: Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. off #1 & #10 tees. 18 holes Stroke Play.

Saturday, September 27 
Round 2: Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. off #1 & #10 tees. 18 holes Stroke Play. 
Cut to low 60 scores and ties. 
Field re-grouped according to score.

Sunday, September 28  
Final Round: Tee times begin at 8:00 a.m. off #1 & #10 tees. 18 holes Stroke Play. 
Awards ceremony immediately following play at scoreboard.

The 37th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.  

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)  
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 122 member clubs represented by over 33,000 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors.
