Cym Doggett of Huntsville shot a final round score of ten-over 82, with an overall score of 15-over par 159, to claim her second consecutive Women’s State Super-Senior title.
“At the end of the day, my true highlight of the week is being out here with the other golfers and spending time with good friends,” said Doggett humbly.
Dina Murray of Chelsea and Melanie Smith of Hoover both posted overall scores of 161. After a scorecard playoff, Murray took home second and Smith took home third.
Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville shot five-under 67 today to claim the top spot on the leaderboard in the Women’s State Amateur Championship. Nicastro has an overall score of 141 after two rounds.
Courtney Grace of Birmingham posted a score of two-under par 70 to take the round one lead of the Women’s State Amateur Championship.
Yvette Gorden of Pike Road and Kamdyn Kelley of Dothan sit tied at second with a score of even-par 72.
In the State Senior Amateur Championship Division, Virginia Grimes of Auburn sits at the top of the leaderboard, carding five-over 77 for the day, making her overall total 150.
Linda Jeffrey of Prattville sits in second with a total score of seven-over 151 and Susan West of Tuscaloosa stands in third with an overall score of eleven-over 155.
Kyung-Hwa Theodoss of Hampton Cove leads the State Senior Amateur Tournament Division with an overall score of 163. Lisa Jones of Guntersville stands second with an overall score of 167. Dawn Miceli of Foley sits in third with an overall score of 174.
The final rounds of the 94th Women’s State Amateur and 53rd Women’s State Senior Championships will start at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 125 member clubs represented by over 33,500 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
