MONTGOMERY, AL (July 2, 2026) - Final results of the 2026 U.S. Senior Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship Local Qualifying hosted at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama, July 2, 2026.

U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifying : 6580 yards, par 72, Course/Slope Rating: 70.9/130

2 qualifying spots were available at this site. Two alternate positions were also available. 

33 players competed to advance to the 71st U.S. Senior Amateur Championship.

John Wright of Fairhope, Alabama posted five-under 67 to secure medalist honors and earn the first qualifying position.

Greg Kennedy of Peachtree Corners, Georgia claimed the second qualifying position. 

Claud Cooper of Mountain Brook, Alabama was named 1st Alternate and John Fisher of Opelika, Alabama claimed the 2nd Alternate position.

2 players advanced to the 2026 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Baltimore Country Club (East Course) in Lutherville, Md., August 29-September 3, 2026.

U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Qualifying : 5950 yards, par 72, Course/Slope Rating: 74.0/128

The 2026 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship Local Qualifying is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.

2 qualifying spots were available at this site. Two alternate positions were also available. 

8 players competed to advance to the 39th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Ivy Shepherd of Peachtree City, Georgia posted one-under 71 to secure medalist honors and earn the first qualifying position.

Victoria Jackson of Memphis, Tennessee claimed the second qualifying position. 

Sophie Membrino of Ponte Verda Beach, Florida was named 1st Alternate and Linda Jeffery of Prattville, Alabama claimed the 2nd Alternate position.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)  
 
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 123 member clubs represented by over 33,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors.
