Taylor Trible of Birmingham + Yvette Gorden of Pike Road lead after Round One of the 19th Women’s State Four-Ball Championship, finishing the day with an impressive five-under 67. The duo sits one stroke under their nearest competition.
Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville + Klare Jamison of Huntsville sit at second carding a four-under 68. Anna Kunkel of Atmore + Mallory Brooks of Southside finished the round in third at three-under 69.
Susan West of Tuscaloosa + Virginia Grimes of Auburn sit tied with Lea Green of McCalla + Linda Jeffery of Prattville at the end of Round One of the 8th Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championship division. The teams shot five-under 67 in the first round today.
Amanda Miller of Huntsville + Donna Lowen of Albertville sit third after carding a combined four-under 68.
In the Senior Tournament division, Elizabeth Underwood of Auburn + Karen Moore of Auburn hold a solo lead after round one, posting a combined score of even-par 72.
Dawn Miceli of Foley + Lori H olibaugh of Foley sit in second in the Tournament division with a combined score of five-over 77.
The second and final round will begin tomorrow morning, Friday, July 24th at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 125 member clubs represented by over 33,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
