MOBILE, AL (May 14, 2026) – The Alabama Golf Association’s 29th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship & 8th Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Championship will be held at The Country Club of Mobile in Mobile, AL from May 15-17, 2026. 84 golfers will compete for the State Senior Championship title and 53 players will compete for the State Super-Senior Championship title.

This marks the third time the Country Club of Mobile has hosted the Alabama State Senior Championship and the second time it has hosted the Alabama State Super-Senior Championship. The inaugural State Senior Champion, Sam Farlow of Birmingham, holds the record of most wins with 6 victories (1998, 2000-2004).
State Senior Amateur Championship Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 9.9 and has reached his 50th birthday by May 15, 2026.
State Super-Senior Amateur Championship Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 12.9 and has reached his 65th birthday by May 15, 2026.
State Senior & Super-Senior Amateur Championship(s) Facts:
Yardage: 6326 yards, par 35-35–70 (State Senior); 5704 yards, par 35-35–70 (State Super-Senior)
Course & Slope Rating: 70.8/126 (State Senior); 67.8/120 (State Super-Senior)
Championship Format:
- 54 holes of gross individual stroke play.
- The field will be cut to the low 37 (Senior) and low 23 (Super-Senior) players and ties after 36 holes.
- The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion.
- In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play. The play-off holes and order of play will be determined by the AGA. All other ties will be split equally.
- Initial groupings will be for the first two rounds. Following the cut, the field will be re-paired by score for the final round.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 125 member clubs represented by over 33,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
